VOLUNTEER
FRIDAY 5-13 SERVICE DAY - SATURDAY 5-14 EVENT DAY
Do you have a heart to love and serve others in our community?  We have an opportunity for you, your church or group to join with many other like minded people and make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors in need!  *VOLUNTEER MEETING AND PRAYER WALK AT THE FAIRGROUNDS ON FRIDAY MAY 13 AT 7 P.M.

Descriptions and FAQ for volunteers are listed below.  PRAYER COUNSELORS WILL NEED TO ATTEND A TRAINING CLASS,ARRIVE AT 8:30 SATURDAY MAY 14.












VOLUNTEER AREAS

Operations: Set-Up, Maintain and Take Down
This team is responsible for setting up the site and/or maintaining the “ A Day of Hope” grounds through the day. Take Down teams will be needed as the event draws to a close.

Guest Services and Greeters
Join a team responsible for making our guests feel welcome and honored. Help someone with your enthusiasm and encouragement! 

Health & Wellness Services
Health & Wellness Greeters will assistance our guests with the direction and location of the Health kiosks.

Clothing Ministry
Will be located in the Health and Wellness building.  Assist the clothing coordinator in maintaining and restocking the clothing tables and hangers.

Kid's Zone 
Join a dynamic team where you can be a kid again! Volunteers will lead children in a fun, festive atmosphere  carnival-like games, crafts, activities, food, etc.along with various forms of entertainment.  Inflatable obstacle course and “Moon Walk” bouncy’s will need monitors to maintain safety and flow.

Kid’s Activity Tables
Activity tables will be located in the Health & Wellness, Resource Booth and Prayer Tent areas if a parent needs to be ministered to without their child present.

Teen Scene
Join a team that will communicate hope to our teen generation!  Volunteers will coordinate stage activities, assist groups preparing for their presentation, prayer counseling, set up/take down, game host and more!

Prayer Tent Counselors
Counselors in the prayer tent will thank our guests for coming and ask if they would like prayer, assist in filling out connection cards and determine if there are any pressing needs. While supplies last, groceries will be offered to those in need.  Prayer Tent Counselors are required to an orientation class so that everyone will be on the same page.  ARRIVE AT 8:30 AND CHECK IN, TRAINING STARTS PROMPTLY AT 9 A.M.

Safety Team
Join a dynamic team responsible for keeping all guests and volunteers safe throughout the fairground, restrooms and parking area (we need female volunteers too).

Groceries
This team is responsible for handing out grocery bags for our guests in need.  Bags will be pre-made, there may be some additions that come in late to add to bag.

Clean-Up Team
Be a part of a team devoted to the tear-down and clean-up process at the end of the event.

Parking
Volunteers are encouraged to car pool to the outreach.  Event parking is in the main lot at the traffic light on Sugarloaf Pkwy.  Deliveries and set up vehicles will use the service entrance just down from the main entrance.  We will not be using the Davis Road entrance.

Check In
There will be a Ticket Booth at the main gate for “Volunteer Check In.”  You will receive a lanyard with your credentials, a site map and a meal ticket. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled service time to allow for the check in process and the walk to your service area.

Duration of the Outreach
The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m., please arrive at 8 a.m. for set up. We will need some volunteers to stay for an additional hour following the event to help clean the site.  Prayer tent volunteers are requested to stay until all guest needs are met.

Lunch
Volunteers will be given a meal lunch ticket and we recommend bringing snacks and bottled water.
 
Same Task As Scheduled
To ensure that we serve our guests effectively, volunteers are asked to stay in their area of service and continue in the same task for the scheduled period.  Team leaders may make requests for assistance in the event that an area of ministry is short staffed, please be flexible.

Site Cleanup
All volunteers are asked to remain on site for an additional hour after the official close to help with site cleanup.

Dress
Volunteers should dress appropriately for the weather. Dress in layers, as temperatures may be cooler in the morning and warmer in late afternoon. Volunteers are encouraged to wear t-shirts from their home church. Lead Coordinators will be given special A DAY OF HOPE t-shirts.  Safety Team members will be issued safety green vests.


Child Volunteers
Children 12 and under must remain in the company of a parent or guardian all day. Volunteers 13 and older may work in any area of service they choose. (Safety volunteers must be eighteen years of age or older.)
